Most people know my family travels A LOT. I usually stay behind watching with envy as they fly off to some new magical destination. Fortunately my dad sympathizes with me occasionally and will either take me along or set up a special trip just for us. (I know, I have a great dad.)
This little getaway happened to be a week in Georgia. I have always wanted to visit the South and secretly wished I had that adorable southern accent & charm :) My family has some great friends down there that were so generous to offer their beautiful beach house and I also have a great mom who was willing to watch the girls so we headed off with my sister Melissa and her husband Bret for a kid free getaway.
Shawn is incapable of taking a normal smiling photo, he is always making dumb comments or poking me somehow...this is usually the result we get. But the beach was beautiful!
This place had THE best homeade ice cream & the whole place smelled delicious.
Can't you tell how much Meliss is enjoying it.
Seeing as we were so close we just had to check out Charleston SC.
The town was absolutely adorable. I was in love with the giant Southern homes and could so envision the roaring 20's (or what I imagine it would be like :)
I know this is silly but I loved this sign. It genuinely made me laugh out loud, it also happened that no one else was around to enjoy this moment with me so I did get a few strange looks when I was laughing out loud. But really it is a fountain...why would you ever need a lifeguard? :)
On our way back to the Beach House on Tybee we had to stop by the Crab Shack just to see the gators.
Below is the Sullivan's Beach House it was gorgeous and you literally walked straight out onto the beach, the entire time I was wishing I had my girlies because I knew how much they would LOVE just playing in the sand and search for sea shells.
Not only was the beach house awesome but the garage was filled with amazing toys. Including Kayaks, Crab Traps, Fishing Poles, Kites, Boats and my personal favorite the Four Person Bicycle..once again in love. Seriously I have never seen anything like it and it was so much fun riding around the island on this thing.
Shawn tried his luck at crabbing without much success...
later they found the Crab Pods and did much better.
Bret was a little hesitant about trying to cook them..but they actually were quite delicious, and I'm not even a sea food lover.
We decided to take the boat out along the Island, unfortunately it could only hold 3 of us so Shawn paddled along behind us in the Kayak. I'm pretty sure he got an amazing work out that day.
Aww..finally a sweet picture, but no actually he was trying to drag me in the ocean...not so sweet.
still trying...
I swear I have a picture similar to this one on every outing we have. Shawn has a strange obsession with picking up strange creatures. Here he was trying to prove to me that you can pick up a jelly fish. They actually were very cool looking, I had never seen one so close up before.
We had such an incredible time, it was a much needed get away and I can't wait to go back and take the girls with us.
